Is "Ovenable" a Word?
Date published: October 19, 2006
You hear the English Language being misused a lot these days. Here's another fine example and I just have to wonder if it is a word.
Our English language is regularly abused, contorted, screwed up, etc. I was cleaning out my freezer and found this package and had to do a double take. Ovenable? Is Ovenable an actual word? I just typed it into a MS Word document and it isn't according to its glossary/spelling database.
Another one I hate - irregardless. That is a double negative...I once knew a lady who was very intelligent, but she kept saying irregardless and that drove me nuts (short drive, I know).
Then there are strange phrases that are redundant like "Free Gift." Isn't it implied that if I'm getting a gift, it's free?

Blog is published randomly when I feel like it. It might not always be sunshine and kittens but I do my best to keep politics, religion, racial issues, or anything considered 'edgy' out ot if. If I can't sit and talk about it amongst a mixed group of people from all over the scope of humanity, you won't find it here, and if you do, please call me on it.
